Canine from Hook to be awarded by PDSA charity


AN INSPIRATIONAL canine from Hook is to be honoured by a vet charity for his “distinctive life-changing work” along with his proprietor.

Cocker Spaniel Jerry is a post-traumatic stress dysfunction (PTSD) help canine and is ready to obtain the PDSA Order of Advantage – which celebrates extraordinary animals who reveal the distinctive bond between animals and people – at a particular ceremony on July 14.

Eight-year-old Jerry was matched along with his proprietor Mark Lanchbery who suffered with severe, life-changing accidents in 2008, whereas serving with the British Military.

Additionally receiving an award on the ceremony is 14-year-old border collie Zak, a retired search and rescue canine from Southampton, who, along with his proprietor Kev Saunders, attended greater than 300 searches throughout his 11-year profession.

Zak began coaching at simply nine-weeks-old with the voluntary organisation, Hampshire Search and Rescue Canines with Kev, in 2009.

“I’m very clear that with the rescue organisation and its unwavering help, we’re far more practical in looking for weak lacking individuals an stopping them from coming to hurt.

“We, and the numerous people he has helped, owe Zak an enormous debt of gratitude, and I do know that each one my colleagues in Hampshire Constabulary will take part celebrating and congratulating Zak and Kev for being honoured with the distinguished PDSA Order of Advantage.”

Nina Downing, a vet nurse with PDSA, stated Jerry and Zak are each “completely deserving recipients” of the award.

She added: “Zak and Jerry’s shut partnership with their homeowners are great examples of the important function animals play in supporting our wellbeing and helping these in want of assist to profit society.”
